Bernard O’Rourke, a Member of our Club for three years, is our current serving President.
Membership of Rotary is by invitation only but, if you would like to know more about what Rotary stands for, why not come along to one of our regular weekly meetings. We meet on Monday nights, at 7.00pm for 7.30pm., for dinner at Mid Sussex Golf Club, Spatham Lane, Ditchling, BN6 8XJ . Telephone 01273-841 835. A location map is available. Please check our programme to make sure we are meeting on your chosen date. To arrange a visit or to find out more about Rotary please contact us by clicking here.
Our programme detailing our weekly meetings is on the home page of our District website, and will open in a new page.
The Presidential role is a privilege, with election annually. Please explore this website and the links. We have a strong core of Rotarians underpinning this Club, who contribute their time with both passion and compassion.
Sussex Vale is one of two Rotary Clubs for those who live or work in or around the town of Burgess Hill or the villages of Ditchling, Keymer, Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint, Sayers Common and Albourne.
There are ninety-six clubs in the immediate District, and some 32,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide. Sussex Vale was formed in 1986 and is made up of like-minded business and professional people who use fellowship as an opportunity to be of service to both their local and international community.
In addition our club is linked to the Rotary Clubs of Oss-Maasland in Holland and Kluisbergen-Vlaamse-Ardennen in Belgium. Traditionally we meet with the Rotarians of both these clubs annually, for social and fund raising events. Recently, it has been subject to a majority of Club Members deciding to withdraw the Club from this commitment, after 30+ years, and we wish the other two Clubs the very best for the future. Personal ties, memories and relationships are likely to last for many years to come.
Last year we assisted the local Charity, Impact Foundation coupled with finance provided by the above two Clubs, for a project in Bangladesh. This culminated in a successful completion of the Project in around May 2018.
We continue to bond with a Club in India, the Rotary Club of Baroda Metro
This Club is in the West of India, and was also formed in 1986. One of our Members is a frequent visitor. See our ‘Donations’ page.
