As usual, we shall not meet on the following Mondays:
From this date we are changing our meeting time to 19:00 for 19:30.
Our meeting will be held at the Hickstead Hotel, Jobs Lane, Hickstead. We shall not be at our normal venue on that evening.
President's Barbecue in Findon. We shall not be at our normal venue on that evening.
The Club presented Hassocks' "Proms in the Park" in association with Hassocks Twinning Association. This took place in the Adastra Park, and the proceeds have been shared between the Club's Charity Fund and the Twinning Association.
A Fishing Match was held in aid of our Charity Trust Fund at a private lake in Hartfield, followed by a barbecue.
We are having a Vocational Visit to the premises of one of our member's company, Abcom, on Sheddingdean Industrial Estate, Burgess Hill. Consequently our usual meeting is transferred there, and we shall not be at the Jack & Jill.
Our usual Monday meeting took the form of a Trafalgar Day Dinner.
On Monday 12th January 2009, we held a Quiz Night with Ladies invited, at the White Horse, Ditchling, our old meeting place. Consequently we were away from the Jack and Jill on that occasion.
The Street Collection in Hurstpierpoint, for the Club's Charity Trust Fund, was held and £365.60 was collected.
The Street Collection in Hassocks, for the Club's Charity Trust Fund, was held in appalling weather, and £202.78 was collected.
The annual Burns Supper was held at Mid Sussex Golf Club, Spatham Lane, Ditchling.
On Monday 2nd February 2009, our meeting was to have been held at the Hickstead Hotel, Jobs Lane, Hickstead. Consequently we were away from the Jack and Jill on that occasion. As it happens, the Hotel cancelled the meeting because of heavy snow. It was instead held on 2nd March, when we entertained visitors from our Belgian Contact Club, the RC of Kluisbergen-Vlaamse-Ardennen.
On Monday 9th February 2009, our meeting was a skittles evening, and will be held at the Bull Inn, Shermanbury, on the A281. Consequently we were away from the Jack and Jill on that occasion.
Race Night and Quiz at the Adastra Hall, Hassocks, raised approximately £800 for First Responders.
Our annual Golf Day was again held at Mid Sussex Golf Club. It raised approximately £2,000 for our Charity Trust Fund.
We regret to have to announce the untimely death of Catherine Joyce, wife of our member, Bernard Joyce, during the night of Friday, 2nd January 2009. Our sympathies go to Bernard and their families.
We also regret to announce the death of Marven Taplin, a Founder Member of our Club, on 16th February 2009. Marven was President of our Mother Club, the RC of Burgess Hill and District, at the time. Our sympathies go to Jean and the family.
