Our Club has made the following donations during the current Rotary Year, from the Charity Trust Fund.
The Club has again made its annual donation of £720 to Plan International, to help support four children in Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Benin and the Philippines.
The Club made a donation of £300 to the Pauline Thaw Centre of Age Concern, in Hassocks, to help them upgrade their chiropody services.
The Club made a donation of £500 to A New Beginning Rwanda
The Club sponsored Beata Bishop-McCarthy for her climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, in aid of Childreach International and donated £200 to that cause.
As part of the Triple Club Project from 2008, the Club has now been successful in getting Matching Grant Funding from Rotary International for the project to dig wells in Zambia, under the auspices of Village Water. As a result over £17,000 has been made available for this project, which is supported by our Contact Clubs, the Rotary Club of Oss-Maasland in the Netherlands and the Rotary Club of Kluisbergen-Vlaamse-Ardennen in Belgium.
As a practical method of help, the Club volunteered to help Link Romania by packing shoe boxes for transport, at their Worthing headquarters on 16th November 2009, in place of our normal meeting. The Club also arranged for an articulated lorry to travel round the UK collecting shoe boxes from various centres.
As last year, the Club donated 10 Christmas Hampers to needy families, nominated by two local schools. The Club is grateful to Budgens Store, Hassocks, for providing the goods at a discount.
Details of further Donations will be posted when they are made.
