The Great Sussex Vale Bake Off 2018

Returning for yet another year, the popular Bake Off challenge is once again being held in Adastra Hall. The event takes place on Saturday morning April 28th , and we welcome entrants from Hassocks and all around to bring their own Baked entry and let it be judged against your peers.

Get your whisks at the ready!

CAKES, CAKES, CAKES! It’s Back, So Get Your Whisks Ready! Local Bake Off Competition in aid of Sussex Air Ambulance. Back by popular demand and following the success of last year’s competition, Sussex Vale Rotary and Hassocks WI have teamed together again to organise a local version of the competition. Taking place on 28 April at Adastra Hall in Hassocks, aspiring bakers will be pitting their favourite recipes against each other in the following five categories: Cooked Tray-bake, Chocolate Heaven, Victoria Sandwich, Family Favourite and Savoury or Sweet Tart. Bakers can enter as many categories as they wish, each entry costing £2.50. Like last year, there will two age ranges for junior bakers, those aged 12 or under to prepare Decorated Cup Cakes and those 13-16 to prepare Savoury or Sweet Biscuits, who are invited to enter the Competition at 50p per entry. This is a challenging and fun event which will be assessed by an independent, qualified WI Judge. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each class, with a further prize for the overall baking champion. Refreshments will be available after the judging when the competition cakes and will be sold for the benefit of Sussex Air Ambulance.  Entry forms which will be available from 3 April can be collected from the UKCook Shop in Hurstpierpoint or QD Stationery and Orion News in Hassocks. Watch out for our eye-catching posters in the next few weeks.   All proceeds from the competition will go to Sussex Air Ambulance so please dust off your cookery books and whip out your mixing bowls to support this worthy cause.
