Our Club has made the following donations during the current Rotary Year, from the Charity Trust Fund.
The Club has again made its annual donation of £720 to Plan International, to help support four children in Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Benin and the Philippines.
The Club continues to support H.E.A.R.T Beat, the First Responders team serving Hurstpierpoint and Hassocks, with a further donation of £2,000 for anopther defibrillator.
The Chernobyl Children's Project http://www.chernobyl-children.org.uk/ has received a donation of £100.00, to help in their work of providing holidays and respite care for children from Belarus, who live in the affected areas.
St Peter & St James Hospice has again been supported with a donation of £500.00 towards their extension project.
Newick House School has been given a donation of £500.00 as part of our continuing support for them. A party of children from the school will again be taken on the annual Rotary Kids Out excursion to Chessington World of Adventure, on 11th June 2008, in a joint project with the Rotary Club of Burgess Hill and District.
Bluebird Community Transport received a donation of £200.00 in recognition of the valuable work which they do in providing transport for the less-able mebers of the community.
The Friends of Wolstonbury have been given £200.00 to help their efforts to preserve the ambience of Wolstonbury Hill. Their web site is at http://www.wolstonbury.com/.
Shine Theatre Group have received £222.72 as a donation towards their activities with children of all abilities. Their web site is at http://www.shinetheatregroup.co.uk/.
A Rotary Club in Thailand has been given a donation of £500.00 to purchase locally-made wheelchairs suited to the terrain in which they are used.
Following the Typhoon in Myanmar (Burma) and the Chinese earthquake, the Club has purchased 3 Shelter Boxes to be sent to those areas. See http://www.shelterbox.org/ and click on "News" for details of their work.
